Last Updated: October 9, 2026
This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for OnChain Music, LLC ("OnChain Music"), including our website (https://www.onchainmusic.com), the OnChain Music mobile app, and our API, MCP server, and ChatGPT plugin. It will notify you of the following:
- What personally identifiable information is collected from you through our website, app, and API services, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.
- What choices are available to you regarding the use of your data.
- The security procedures in place to protect the misuse of your information.
- How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.
Information Collection, Use, and Sharing
We are the sole owners of the information collected through our website, app, and API services. We collect information you provide directly, such as when you register, upload music, purchase a subscription or license, or contact us, as well as limited information collected automatically, as described in this policy. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.
We use your information to provide and improve our services, operate your account, and respond to you. We share information only with service providers that help us run OnChain Music, such as hosting, payment processing (Stripe), blockchain payment verification (Alchemy), email delivery, push notification, crash reporting, AI search (OpenAI), and partner music platforms (such as SourceAudio), and only as needed to provide our services, or when required by law.
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, licensing opportunities, or changes to this privacy policy. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time.
Your Access to and Control Over Information
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us at [email protected]:
- See what data we have about you, if any.
- Change/correct any data we have about you.
- Have us delete any data we have about you.
- Express any concern you have about our use of your data.
If you use the OnChain Music app, you can also request deletion of your account in the app under Account, then Delete account.
Registration
To use most features of our website and app, you must first create an account. During registration you are required to give certain information, such as your name, artist or label name, email address, and profession. This information is used to operate your account and to contact you about the products and services on our site in which you have expressed interest. Searching the catalog and purchasing licenses through our API services does not require an account.
Cookies
We use "cookies" on our website. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site. The OnChain Music app and our API services do not use cookies.
Security
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, app, or API services, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. On our website, you can verify this by looking for a lock icon in the address bar and looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the Web page. The app and our API services communicate with our servers using encrypted connections.
While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
Children
Our website, app, and API services are not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
OnChain Music Mobile App
This section explains how the OnChain Music app for iPhone handles your information. It applies in addition to the rest of this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your first and last name, artist or label name, email address, and profession. Your password is stored in encrypted form and is never visible to us.
- App identifier. When you first open the app, it creates a random identifier stored on your device. We use it to show your scan history and apply the daily scan limit if you haven't created an account. It is not linked to your device's hardware or advertising identifiers.
- Audio files. When you scan a track, the file is uploaded to our servers for analysis and deleted as soon as the scan finishes. We do not store, share, or listen to your audio.
- Scan results. We keep the results of each scan, including the file name, loudness measurements, the metadata embedded in the file (such as title, artist, ISRC, composer, and publisher), and your scores, so you can view your reports later. If you scan as a guest and then create an account, those results are moved to your account.
- Notification token. If you allow notifications, we store a token that lets us send alerts to your device, such as when new licensing opportunities are posted. You can turn notifications off at any time in your iPhone Settings.
- IP address. We store a one-way hash of your IP address to help prevent abuse. We cannot recover your IP address from it.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes or encounters an error, we receive a report with technical details such as your device model, iOS version, app version, and the part of the app where the problem occurred. Crash reports do not include your name, email address, or IP address.
How we use it
We use this information to provide scans and reports, operate your account, show you licensing opportunities and send notifications about new ones if you've allowed them, let you submit music to licensing opportunities, send account emails such as verification and password resets, fix bugs, and prevent abuse.
Sharing and tracking
We do not sell your information or use it for advertising, and the app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We share information only with service providers that help us run OnChain Music, such as our hosting, email delivery, push notification (Expo), crash reporting (Sentry), and AI search (OpenAI) providers, and only as needed to provide the service.
When you use AI Search, the words you type are sent to OpenAI to interpret your request and find matching music. We don't send your name, email address, or account details with your search, and OpenAI processes it on our behalf under terms that don't allow it to be used to train their models.
When you add a YouTube channel to your allowlist, we share its channel ID with our licensing partners so videos on that channel aren't claimed by Content ID.
Deleting your account
You can request account deletion in the app under Account, then Delete account. Our team will delete your account and associated data, including your scan history and music on OnChain Music, and email you once it's complete. You can also request deletion by contacting us at [email protected].
API, AI Agents, and USDC Payments
OnChain Music offers a public API, an MCP server, and a ChatGPT plugin that let AI agents and developers search our catalog and purchase licenses. This section explains how we handle information through these services. It applies in addition to the rest of this policy.
- Search requests. We receive the search terms and filters an agent sends us. AI search phrases are sent to OpenAI to interpret the request, without any name, email address, or account details. We store the track IDs returned by a search so we can show the same results on our website.
- License purchases. When a license is requested, we store the wallet address that will send payment, the request's IP address, an optional agent identifier, the track and license details, and the payment status. We use this to verify payment, issue the license, prevent abuse and duplicate requests, and keep records of licenses we grant.
- Blockchain transactions. Payments are made in USDC on the Base blockchain. Blockchain transactions, including wallet addresses, amounts, and transaction hashes, are public and permanent, and we cannot change or delete them. We read this public data through our blockchain provider (Alchemy) to confirm payments.
- Partner catalogs. Some tracks are provided by partner music libraries. When you license a partner track, we generate download links through the partner's platform (such as SourceAudio). We do not share your wallet address or IP address with partners.
- ChatGPT. When you use OnChain Music through ChatGPT, OpenAI's privacy policy governs your conversation with ChatGPT. We only receive the information ChatGPT sends to our tools, such as search terms, track IDs, and the wallet address you provide for a purchase.
License records are kept as long as needed to honor the licenses we grant and to meet legal and accounting obligations. To ask about data connected to a license, contact us at [email protected] with your license ID.
